The get ready
We have decided. Our first hike will be Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. We are sticking pretty close to home with the mid point being Hiwassee, GA and a hotel stay. Don really worked on that part of it and provided us with several escape routes if the hike is too much. If it sounds as if we are hedging our bets in several areas, I guess we are. But when you are 50ish and not that great of shape, it probably is prudent. So, in that spirit, we are taking the months of April and May to ramp up our exercise and get ready! My goal is to work out every day that I don't have a market with a particular emphasis on trying to run a minute more each each week. Don't laugh. I could not run even one minute earlier this year. Now, I can do 2 with walk spacing. Like I said, not great shape. Today being Sunday, I am going to walk the ginormous block. I think it is 3 miles around, quite hilly and with the trees blooming everywhere, polleny. Cole and I are also cutting the grass which should be good for another mile or so. The other area of concern is 'core'. This is code for stomach area. Yep, you guessed it, I am soft in the middle. We have Tony Horton's P90X videos here and I intend to do his AB workouts every other day starting today. Of course, I will not be able to do as much as he and his body bunnies do but you gotta start somewhere. So, here we go -- on our grand adventure -- I am estimating it will take 10 years -- and I hope to reap tremendous rewards.
